Talented, hard-working and ambitious; Nathan Sproule has the essential ingredients of a top-level session drummer. Nathan’s drive has led to an impressively varied and successful body of work – his reputation as one of Australia’s brightest up-and-coming drummers cemented and growing.
In the studio and on stage, Nathan is a natural. Though, far from relying on prodigious gifts, he has spent the past decade and some refining his skills, improving them and pushing himself towards excellence. As a rock and pop drummer, Nathan is both a contemporary and a classicist – a reflection of his broader studies.
Plucked out of high school at age 15, earning an honour acceptance to WAAPA’s prestigious music programme; Nathan’s degree saw him study jazz, Latin and blues in addition to contemporary styles… techniques and abilities that serve him well in his preferred realm of rock and pop, rising him far above the accepted standard of professional session drummers.
Already receiving reviews that mention his playing specifically; Nathan is getting noticed.
A true work horse, Nathan rehearses twice daily and plays an average of three shows per week amidst his heavy session schedule – with an incredibly diverse range of quality artists such as James Morrison, Libby Hammer, Daryl Somers, The Panda Band, The Southern River Band, End Of Fashion, Kerb, WAYJO, Perth Symphony Orchestra, Simon Kelly And The Lonely Wives, Psychonaut, Chainsaw Hookers and Kill Teen Angst on his touring and recording résumé.
With an ever-expanding client list, and an ever-filling calendar, Nathan’s life as a professional session drummer is accelerating at an impressive speed.
Recorded or live; the sound of Nathan Sproule’s drumming is one not to be missed.
