Karl Lewis has vast experience within the music industry as a drummer, producer and educator.
His passion, versatility and dedication to his craft as a drummer has provided Karl with opportunities to tour and record with some of Australia’s finest artists such as Savage Garden, Bachelor Girl, Daryl Braithwaite, Killing Heidi, Keith Urban, The Hampdens, Phil Emmanuel, Andrew Wishart (X Factor), Winterpark, Laspina, The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to the recent international Darren Hayes ‘Do You Remember Tour, to name a few!
As a touring drummer Karl has shared many stages globally with some of the most influential acts in the world including Bon Jovi, Genesis, Bob Dylan, Lenny Kravitz, George Clinton, Mariah Carey, Boys to Men, Pink, Midnight Oil and INXS.
Karl has also had the privilege to work along side some of Australia’s finest music producers, including Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave, Beth Orton), Chong Lim (John Farnham, Dancing with the Stars) and producer/engineer Jimi Maroudas (Eskimo Joe, Tim Rogers).
As an electronic music performer and producer throughout the years, Karl has provided many programming and compositional skills to various projects including his own band She Said Yes featuring Tania Doko (Bachelor Girl) and Jack Jones (Southern Sons), Silent Passenger as well as many various Film and TV work.
His association and international endorsements with such companies as Gretsch Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Vic Firth drumsticks, Evans Drumheads, Roland and Ableton Live has allowed him to not only perform workshops nationally but also engage in the technological design of future software releases and hardware devices.
With over 30 years experience as a passionate educator, Karl values the importance of producing a teaching and learning environment which provides the ability for all students to feel comfortable to engage in teamwork while questioning theories and concepts to challenge their individual understandings and creativity.
