His years studying jazz and harmony at the VCA, combined with an obsession with the craft of songwriting, has helped him create a unique voice that is subtly sophisticated and widely accessible drawing from a lifetime of influence from greats such as Randy Newman, Elliot Smith, Conor Oberst, as well as a love of 90’s alternative bands Pavement, Wilco and Weezer.
RAT!hammock are renowned for an explosive live set having played at BIGSOUND, Laneway, Spilt Milk, New Years Eve On The Hill, Summer Sounds and St Kilda Festival. As well as selling out headline tours and supporting bands such as Last Dinosaurs, Angie McMahon, Oh Pep! and British artist Yellow Days nationally.
The bands 2020 debut LP Everything, All At Once, Forever saw wide radio support for tracks such as Word Of The Day, Ghost, Easy and Pick Up. Scoring the band feature interviews and performances on the Stephen Mcauley Show for BBC Radio Ulster and Rolling Stone Australia.
