Rock Academy is Coming to Brisbane – For the Very First Time!
After more than 10 years of shaping young musicians in Melbourne, Rock Academy is heading north.
This April, Rock Academy launches in Brisbane for the very first time, giving local teenagers the chance to experience one of Australia’s most respected youth band programs.
Running from Tuesday 7 April to Saturday 11 April (right after Easter), this immersive week is all about writing, rehearsing, recording and performing music, guided by experienced professional mentors.
For Teenagers Who Live and Breathe Music
If you’re aged 12–19 and love playing music, Rock Academy is where it all levels up.
- Join real bands with other passionate teens
- Write and perform your own original songs
- Rehearse in professional studios
- Perform live on a real stage
- Make friends and musical connections that can last a lifetime
There are no pre-approved song lists and no limits on creativity. You and your bandmates decide what you play, how you sound and how you perform. Loud, original, creative — just the way rock music should be.
For Parents: A Proven, Safe & Inspiring Program
With a 10+ year track record in Melbourne, Rock Academy has helped thousands of young musicians build skills, confidence and friendships through music.
The program is professionally run and carefully structured, with a strong focus on:
- Confidence, teamwork and communication
- Songwriting and musicianship
- Positive creative expression
- Safe, age-appropriate supervision
Our mentors are working professional musicians who understand how to guide young people in a supportive, encouraging environment.
How the Week Works
Tuesday – Spotlight & Band Formation
Everyone gets a chance to play, meet each other and settle in. Mentors then thoughtfully form the bands and rehearsals begin with a cover song to build chemistry and confidence.
Wednesday – Songwriting Day
The day begins with a hands-on songwriting workshop, then new bands form to co-write original songs from scratch.
Thursday – Rehearsals & Creative Development
Bands develop both originals and covers, refining arrangements and experimenting with sound and performance.
Friday – Final Rehearsals
A full day of polishing performances and preparing for the stage.
Saturday – Live Show Day
Participants take to the stage for an exciting all-ages live show in front of family and friends — a powerful finale to an unforgettable week.
Limited Places Available
As Rock Academy’s first-ever Brisbane program, places are strictly limited to ensure every participant gets meaningful time with mentors.
Fees for the week are $645 (incl gst), payable either wholly, or in two parts – deposit ($250) and balance ($395).
If you’ve been waiting for something more than lessons — this is your chance to step up and rock.

Mentors
We are constantly amazed at the quality of musicians that are keen to get involved with the next generation of teenage musicians. Our mentors for the Rock Academy Brisbane will be announced soon, but check out the amazing artists that have joined us over the years – Mentors.
We acknowledge that our events are staged on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung, peoples of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their land and waters, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and emerging.
