Emily Shaw is a professional rock drummer based in Melbourne, Australia.
Emily has extensive experience as a live touring musician with her own band (UK/AUS rock act Slow Chase), with Triple J Unearthed winners Stonefield (Big Day Out, headline metro and regional tours) and various local Melbourne bands including Elvis Big Band and Lake Minnetonka.
As a recording artist Emily has clocked up many hundreds of hours studio work, most notably whilst recording Slow Chase material with ARIA award winning engineer Jonathan Burnside (Grinspoon, The Living End, The Grates, The Sleepy Jackson, Dan Sultan, Whitley).
Emily has a degree in Australian Popular Music from NMIT, is also a qualified classroom teacher and has been teaching drums in Melbourne schools and music stores for over ten years.
Rock Academy is a school holiday music initiative for teenagers established in 2015. Currently staged in Melbourne and on the Mornington Peninsula, Rock Academy features established artists mentoring teenage musicians as they rehearse a cover song and write an original song to perform on a real rock stage.
