Katie Underwood

Katie Underwood is an artist known for her versatility across genres and international collaborations. Beginning with UK Trance act Terra Ferma in London, she made her mark in the dance music scene. Joining Australian pop group Bardot in 2000, their debut album topped charts and went platinum in Australia and Singapore.

 

After leaving Bardot in 2001, Katie’s collaboration with Disco Montego on “Beautiful” won the APRA Award for Most Performed Dance Work in 2003 and held the No. 1 ARIA Club Chart position for 12 weeks. Her solo track “Danger” received an APRA nomination in 2004, while “Be Together” with Mr. Timothy reached No. 1 on the ARIA Club Chart in 2006.

 

Katie has been a featured performer at LGBTQ+ events across Australia and won the Victorian Rainbow Award for Best Live Performer in 2006. Transitioning to Jazz in 2009, she later explored new-age music, producing six albums focused on mantra and meditation.

 

Reigniting her interest in pop and dance music with Bardot’s re-release in 2020, Katie formed Ka’Bel with former bandmate Belinda Chapple in 2021, recently releasing their” 4th Single, “One in a million.”


She continues to innovate and inspire in the industry, recently delivering a TEDx talk on Mantra meditation. Katie is proud to be joining the Mentoring Team for young musicians at Rock Academy.

Rock Academy Australia

Rock Academy is a school holiday music initiative for teenagers established in 2015. Currently staged in Melbourne and on the Mornington Peninsula, Rock Academy features established artists mentoring teenage musicians as they rehearse a cover song and write an original song to perform on a real rock stage.
