Rock Academy Peninsula is a band performance program for teenage musicians on the Mornington Peninsula, regardless of skill, suburb, school or music style – everyone is embraced by the Tribe.
You’ll have professional touring and recording musicians working with you to develop collaboration, songwriting and performance skills.
Rock Academy is unlike any other, providing teens with the opportunity to learn from the best in the industry and get real-world experience. Just four days of songwriting and rehearsal leads to a performances in front of family and friends, so get ready to rock out and show off your skills on stage.
If you’re a Peninsula based musician aged 12-18 and want to write, rehearse, record, and perform music in a supportive and inclusive environment to develop your skills and passion for music while working with a broad range of like-minded Peninsula teenagers, creating lasting connections, then this is definitely for you.
You’ll make the creative decisions, giving you the freedom to choose the songs you want to play and then showcase your skills on stage.
Rock Academy Peninsula will run during the Easter School Holidays from Monday, April 8 with the live show on the afternoon of Sunday, April 14.

The lowdown
On the first day, we kick it off with a spotlight session, where everyone gets to play, meet each other, and mingle.
The mentors will construct the bands and then you’ll head off to a rehearsal room with your bandmates and start working up a cover song, get creative and feel free to bend the genres and the rules.
On Tuesday morning we kick off with a Songwriting workshop led by our amazing mentors, getting you started on your way to writing your original song. After the workshop, you’ll join a different band and with your new bandmates head to your rehearsal room to co-write your original song.
On Wednesday morning we have some instrument workshops with specialist pro players, then it’s back to rehearsals of originals and covers.
Thursday is a day to polish both your cover and original, get to the finer points of each song in readiness for recording and the live performance.
On Friday we will set up a full backline and staging and bring in our audio and video crews for record and film your performances. These performances will be mixed, edited and polished in preparation for premiering as The Big Show on YouTube and Facebook on Sunday, October 15.
On Sunday afternoon you’ll be on stage at one of the Peninsula band rooms in front of an adoring audience of over 100 people.
Mentors for our 2nd Rock Academy Peninsula will be led by Phil Ceberano, with additional mentors to be announced closer to the commencement of the program.
For over eight years Rock Academy has been transforming young musicians lives as they benefit in a host of ways including gaining confidence, improved social skills, real world experience, building new and broader connections, develop collaboration and team work, positive mental health outcomes and the expanding of a range of other skills.
