Jamie MacDowell is a singer-songwriter, keep reading.
There is an air of the unpolished and underprepared about him onstage that disguises a tight and well-rehearsed performance in a way that sneaks up on the skeptical.
Jamie found a deep interest in all aspects of storytelling when he began writing songs in 2004 and has since developed as much of a love for a good set up as he had for a great punchline.
After penning a dedication to his sister, which he played at her wedding in 2010, the song was quickly synced to the Australian TV drama ‘Offspring’ and subsequently reached #1 on the Australian iTunes soundtrack charts.
In 2011, Jamie met and performed alongside now friend and long-time collaborator Tom Thum. The pair have gone on to sell out two 27 show runs at the Edinburgh Fringe across 2013/14, and filled Spiegeltents on London’s Southbank and Berlin’s Tiergarten. They have represented Australia alongside Angus and Julia Stone and Xavier Rudd at Zermatt Unplugged festival in the Swiss Alps, as well as a set at Glastonbury Festival in 2014.
Jamie MacDowell considers a nationwide tour in support of The Cat Empire in 2015, a career highlight, where he was able to meet and play alongside the musicians that inspired him most as a younger person.
With 3 albums available presently and a live repertoire of over 100 original songs, Jamie’s live show is as entertaining as it is musical.
